Okay.. I lied.
In my Potstock post at the end of last week, I said I was going to be at the Pretoria gig, taking picture which I would then post here, in this article, this week. Well, alas, I didn't take one picture of the Potstock Pre gig. I'm Sorry. I have a dozen excuses, but you don't want to hear any of them, so I'll spare you. The hippies are gathering! Potstock (the name says it all) is coming up and it's intended and expected to be the biggest and best gathering of top South African metal, blues and reggae bands spread out over a 3-day period of drinking, smoking and partying. With a great line-up so far and organisers who obviously care about putting on a fantastic show, Potstock is looking to be something special.

I can still remember the first time I ever heard about Oppikoppi; the annual music festival (celebrating it's 15th birthday this past weekend) was pretty much sold as the poor man's woodstock by the casual observer.
Home to Afrikaans artists and nigh-unknown heavy rock outfits, Oppikoppi was, for years, looked down on by all but the most devout and knowledgeable local music fans; it certainly missed out on the support of the younger generations of concert-goers for years. Being the avid student of social fads - and music fan - that I am, I've noticed a number of reasons that this situation has deservedly turned around completely in recent years.
